Pressure guide wire

Pressure guide wire

Pressure wires are an integral tool of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) assessments, used to measure the blood pressure before and after a blockage within a coronary artery. The pressure wire is a specialised guide wire equipped with a small pressure sensor and advanced across the lesion in the artery. By comparing the pressure readings before and after the lesion, clinicians can assess the functional significance of the stenosis and tailor the treatment plan accordingly. This data-driven approach helps optimise PCI procedures, enhancing patient outcomes while avoiding unnecessary stenting.
